My name is Shaandro Sarkar (EN: [ˈʃɑndɹoʊ ˈsɑɹkɑɹ], BN: [ˈʃan̪d̪ɾo ˈʃɔɹkaɹ]). I am a data analyst based in Virginia with a background in statistics and pure mathematics. I am interested in data science, data visualization, machine learning, and graph theory.
Outside of my work in statistics and data science, I consider myself a lover of languages and linguistics. I speak Bengali and English natively, and I am also proficient in Spanish, Portuguese, and Hindi-Urdu. Other languages I have studied to some extent include Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Mandarin, Japanese, French, and German, among many others. I am particularly interested in historical and sociolinguistics, especially concerning languages of South Asia.
In my spare time, I enjoy creating constructed languages, playing video games and tabletop RPGs, cooking, and traveling. I am also a vocalist trained in both Hindustani and Western classical vocal music. I post on Twitter about my interests, mostly relating to linguistics, mathematics, and statistics. My longer writing is published on my blog.
